  4. Enclosed with this note is Sample Editor 1.0.2, an update to
  5. the previously submitted version (1.0.1).  
  6.  
  7. A number of bugs have been fixed, including:
  8.  
  9.      *  Improved compatability with 24-bit memory mode (was originally
  10.         designed  for 32-bit mode only).
  11.      *  Digital delay sometimes crashed for complex delays.  Now fixed.
  12.      *  Playback rate dial accuracy improved.
  13.      *  Status pane fixed to work after a Revert.
  14.      *  Saving fixed to handle replacing already existing file.
  15.      *  Problem which prevented recording on LC fixed.

  17. Thanks to those who suggested improvements or pointed out
  18. problems.  If you've got anything to say about the Sample Editor,
  19. whether it's good or bad, please do let me know.

  25. Before you download, this version of the Sample Editor NEEDS
  26. the following minimum set-up:
  27.  
  28.       *   System 7
  29.       *   68020 or better processor (Mac II, LC, etc.)
  30.       *   640 x 480 8-bit monitor
  31. plus  *   Sound input device and plenty of RAM, if you want to record.
  32.  
  33. The Sample Editor is an application that allows you to edit and
  34. manipulate sampled sound on the Macintosh.  It supports sound input
  35. and output from Audio Interchange (AIFF) files, Mac 'snd' resources,
  36. and the Clipboard.  The sound may be compressed by a factor of up
  37. to 6:1.  You can also record direct from any connected microphone,
  38. limited only by the available memory.  The waveform of a sound can be
  39. displayed in any level of detail you require by selecting the part
  40. you wish to zoom in on.  You can edit it using Cut, Copy, Paste and
  41. Clear, and apply transformations such as Fade, Normalise, Crossfade
  42. and Digital Delay.

  47.       *   Flash 3d user interface based on the Hypercard audio palette
  48.       *   Auto-play of files in open file dialogue box
  49.       *   Real-time pitch bending
  50.       *   On-screen indication of playback position
  51.       *   Overview of whole waveform displayed at all times
  52.       *   Time grid behind main waveform
  53.       *   Animated input level meter
  54.       *   Selections and insertion points can be marked and named
  55.       *   Full Undo and Redo support
  56.       *   Other bits and pieces (some good, some bugs...)

  58. A full user guide is included with the application in Word 4.0 format.

  60. The Sample Editor is copyright 1992 Garrick McFarlane, but you may
  61. make copies of and distribute this version as you like for personal use.
  62. Commercial shareware or other companies should please contact me
  63. before including the Sample Editor on any compilation disks.

  66. feel indebted to me, make it cash (I should be so lucky :-) ), but otherwise
